Ceramics Workshop with Julia Kushnarenko

Step into the colourful world of ceramic artist Julia Kushnarenko for a hands-on workshop where imagination takes shape in clay. With a background in documentary filmmaking, Julia approaches ceramics as a way of telling stories beyond words, creating playful worlds inhabited by expressive creatures, organic forms and functional objects. In 2026, she opened her Brussels studio, Plombir, as a welcoming space for anyone curious to explore the medium.

During this workshop, participants will paint a handmade ceramic piece of their choice—a plate, bowl or cup—using professional ceramic glazes. Julia will introduce a selection of painting techniques before guiding everyone through the process, while leaving plenty of room for personal expression. Inspired by the theme Magical Garden, participants are invited to create their own whimsical landscape, with illustrated templates of plants and animals available as a starting point.

Once completed, each piece will be glazed and fired in Julia's studio before being ready for collection approximately two weeks later. Whether you're an experienced maker or simply looking for a creative afternoon, this workshop offers a relaxed introduction to ceramic decoration and the joy of making something uniquely your own.
